The Indianapolis Colts announced the details of their team ownership transition after the death of their former owner and CEO Jim Irsay. With this succession plan, the Irsay family will retain the ownership of the franchise.

The former owner of the Colts had three daughters and they are ready to step in as owners and top executives of the franchise. The three daughters Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson will start in their new roles effective immediately.

In the new ownership transition, Carlie Irsay-Gordon will be the owner and CEO. In the past, Irsay indicated that his daughters are on equal footing. And the other two will also continue working in the leadership positions.

Casey Foyt will hold the position of owner and Executive Vice President. Kalen Jackson will become the Owner & Chief Brand Officer and President of the Indianapolis Colts Foundation.

All his daughters have been with the club for more than a decade in various capacities. Foyt was the first one to join the franchise in the front office. She has been involved with the team since 2007. The family’s intention was to retain the ownership of the franchise over the long term.

Earlier, Irsay got the ownership of the franchise from his father in 1997. Irsay said, “We’re keeping 100% of the team that I’m passing on to my children.” Robert Irsay purchased the Colts in 1972 and moved them from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984. After the transition, the franchise remains one of the few sole family-owned NFL franchises.

Under the leadership of Irsay, the Colts have seen a lot of success in the NFL. They made it into 16 playoffs across 28 years in the ownership position. They also got 10 divisional titles as well.
