The Chicago Bears presented an excellent exhibition on Black Friday, winning over the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 24 to 15 at Lincoln Financial Field while unhesitatingly stating their hope for the playoffs.

From the very beginning, the Bears were the ones in control and with a strong rushing game and a disciplined defense they were able to outperform the Eagles, their rivals.  Chicago gained 281 rushing yards, and the biggest part of the credit goes to Kyle Monangai’s performance of 130 yards and one touchdown, as well as D’Andre Swift’s contribution of 125 yards and one touchdown.

Persistence and patience were the characteristics of the Bears offensively. They were rewarded for their ceaseless running, but when it was mostly needed, quarterback Caleb Williams did not disappoint, throwing a deep ball to tight end Cole Kmet for a 28-yard touchdown pass that not only helped but also sealed the victory.

Williams’ 28-yard pass to Kmet may have been the turning point, changing the Chicago Bears’ tale as well as scoring a touchdown.

Many dismissed Chicago up to this week as a team with potential but missing consistency. Some people were wondering if they could handle high-pressure games given their inconsistent record against top opponents.

But defeating a recent Super Bowl winner on their home grounds, and doing so definitively, sends a clear message: the Bears are not just participants this season. Chicago showed with this game that it possesses the poise, ground attack, and defensive stamina needed to contend.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, appeared out of sync, unable to set a pace on offense and repeatedly hampered by Chicago’s front line.

Two touchdowns, both caught by star receiver A.J. Brown, could not compensate for the penalties, turnovers, and inability to manage the line of scrimmage the team faced.
