Kevin Durant Passes Lisa Leslie for Career US Olympic Scoring Leader

Kevin Durant

We all know that Kevin Durant is one of the greatest basketball players to ever live on this planet. However, he is not the all-time leading scorer for any of the four professional teams that he has played for.

During his days in the NBA, he has dominated for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and Phoenix Suns. Playing for these teams meant he wasn’t able to carve a definitive legacy with any of these teams.

The most stable career of his life was with the team USA. He started his Team USA career after his rookie season in 2008. Since then, he has played for every American Olympic team. He won gold medals for Team USA in 2012, 2016, and 2021. And now, he is only two wins away from another gold medal.

Now, he is also the leading scorer in Team USA Olympic history. He had passed Carmelo Anthony as the leader on the Men’s side a long time ago. However, on Tuesday his dunk in the match took his career points to 489 in the Olympics. That broke the record held by Lisa Leslie in basketball at the Olympic games.

He said, “Records are meant to be broken. Somebody will come along to do the same. I’m focused on trying to win this gold.”

If Team USA wins this gold medal, he will become the first men’s player in Olympic history to win four gold medals.

“Training staff, the work that we put in, just keeping my body ready and just staying in the gym, to be honest.”

Lisa Leslie also won four gold medals for Team USA. She applauded the effort of Kevin Durant during the Olympic games.
