According to a person familiar with the matter, YouTuber Jack Doherty has been barred from attending PGA Tour events. He was trespassing at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. However, the PGA Tour has declined to publicly confirm this.
According to reports, the security and law enforcement removed Doehrty from the tournament grounds on Friday. He appeared to pay a spectator to shout during a player’s pre-shot routine. It was determined according to a video circulating online.
Scottsdale police said officers responded on Friday to assist the PGA Tour staff and tournament security team after a call around 4:30 pm. He was removed from the premises. Police said that the call to remove the controversial YouTuber was taken by the PGA Tour officials. The officers were there to support security if Doherty refused to leave the property. In this case, the police did not issue a citation, written trespass or notice, or make an arrest.
Here is what a Tour spokesperson said about the event. “The WM Phoenix Open is a bucket-list event with one of the most unique fan experiences in all of sport. The PGA Tour and the Thunderbirds are committed to protecting the integrity of the competition and providing an exceptional experience for all fans. Disruptive fan behavior will not be tolerated, and anyone violating the Fan Code of Conduct is subject to immediate ejection.”
“We appreciate the swift action of tournament security and local law enforcement to identify and address disruptive behavior.”
Doherty is a 22-year-old YouTuber known for confrontational public pranks. His pranks often have controversial titles like “I crashed into a cop car” and “I got banned from Disney.” Based on these videos, he has garnered a massive fan following on the internet. He generated strong engagement through confrontation and unpredictability.
It appeared that he was encouraging a spectator to shout as Mackenzie Hughes attempted to play out of a bunker. Security quickly identified the individuals involved in the incident and removed them from the area.
