Now it looks like the Brandon Aiyuk trade saga is coming to an end. According to a report from the NFL Network, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a deal on a potential trade for the 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
As per the report, Pittsburgh is also in a good place when it comes to a possible long-term deal for Aiyuk if the 49ers agree to it. It is also reported the 49ers have also sent a long-term contract to Aiyuk, but he has not accepted the offer as of yet. The 49ers and Aiyuk have not been able to find common ground on an extension of his contract despite months of extensive talks and negotiations.
If this trade happens, it will be one of the biggest offseason trades in the NFL’s history.
Aiyuk has made it clear that he did not want to play the next season under the franchise tag. Once he knew that he could request a trade, he did that. He pushed for the trade by not practicing. He also made public statements about his wish to play for either the Commanders or Steelers.
The 49ers got multiple offers for Aiyuk trade, including one from the Patriots that would have made him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. However, he did not want to go to New England. Browns also made an offer for Aiyuk but the negotiations got nowhere.
Pittsburgh has been one of the teams that consistently pushed for a deal for Aiyuk.
If he comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he would join a rebuilt offense that includes quarterbacks Russel Wilson, and Justin Fields, running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, and No. 1 wideout George Pickens.
It will be a great addition to their team as they’ve been trying to find someone to complement Pickens. Brandon Aiyuk is perfect for them in that regard.
