The best all-rounder from Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan has been cleared to bowl again after a reassessment test. He suffered months of negativity regarding his suspected bowling action.
The 37-year-old veteran from Bangladesh had failed the test twice but the latest results suggest that he has been cleared of the suspected action.
This is great news for Shakib who had been excluded from the Champions Trophy squad of Bangladesh. The national selectors didn’t pick him as a specialist batter in the squad. He had marked the ICC champions trophy as a farewell tournament from international cricket, but he couldn’t take part in it due to being suspended from the bowl.
Cricbuzz contacted the ace all-rounder and he confirmed the news with happiness. He said, “The news is right (passing the bowling test) and I am cleared to bowl again.”
For those who don’t know, his bowling action came under scrutiny during a county championship match for Surrey against Somerset last September. After that, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suspended him following an independent evaluation. The evaluation declared his action illegal.
After that incident, he had gone for two separate reassessments, one in England and one in India. He failed to correct his actions in both of these attempts. After that, he was suspended from bowling by the ICC.
Since he couldn’t bowl in the ICC tournament, the Bangladesh team chose not to select him in the fifteen.
He hasn’t played any game since the Abu Dhabi T10 in November 2024. He doesn’t even have the IPL or PSL contracts as well. The next time he can return to the field could be against Sri Lanka in the ODI series if the Bangladesh team selects him.
