Earlier, it was reported that Riyan Parag will lead RR for the first three matches in the absence of their regular captain, Sanju Samson. It was due to the finger injury Sanju sustained during the India series.

Now, Sanju has obtained full clearance from the Centre of Excellence of the BCCI. Now, he can resume his duties as captain and wicketkeeper of the Rajasthan Royals. He was only allowed to bat in the first three games and not keep wickets or captain the side.

On March 31, Sanju flew to Bengaluru from Guwahati to get the go-ahead from BCCI’s Centre of Excellence to keep wickets in the rest of the RR matches in the IPL.

He was partially available to RR management and they had to use him only as a batter and an impact sub. Due to this, they gave the captaincy to Riyan Parag for the first three games. In Sanju’s absence, Dhruv Jurel kept wickets in the first three games. Now that Sanju is fit to play to the fullest of his abilities, he is expected to take back the wicket-keeping role.

Just after finishing the third Rajasthan game in Guwahati, Sanju flew to Bengaluru on March 31. After getting the go-ahead, he will join the RR team in Chandigarh, where they are scheduled to play the Punjab Kings on April 5. The RR team is already in Chandigarh as of April 3.

The RR team has only managed to win one game out of the first three. They are currently in the ninth spot in the points table. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is at the top of the points table with two wins from two games.
