President Trump announced his intention to hold a victory party at the White House for the Philadelphia Eagles following their Super Bowl victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.
USA President Donald Trump stated, “They will be coming, we haven’t done it yet, but we will. I thought they put on a fantastic show. Absolutely, they will receive that invitation. We’ll arrange it promptly. We aim to do it today. They deserve to be here, and we look forward to seeing them.”
The same sources informed CBS News Philadelphia on Monday that the Philadelphia Eagles will be happy to accept an invitation to the White House, should one be offered.
Concerns had surfaced over the past weekend when one old post alleged that the team would consider turning down an invitation. This was stoked further by an article from The Sun which piqued the curiosity of most netizens as it made the rounds on social media.
After clinching a Decisive 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles defeated the Chiefs’ ambition by thwarting their title hopes and ambitions of becoming the first team to three-peat for the Super Bowl.
This season, the Eagles celebrated their second title within seven years: They won the title of the first two after three appearances since 2018. The Eagles had only participated twice in the biggest football game ever before they actually won it in 2018. Those two previous participations ended in defeats in 1980 and 2005.
In 2018, Mr Trump cancelled the players’ public reception due to a disagreement about the national anthem protocol from the past year.
Their first Super Bowl trip in Philadelphia, in 2018, came after what was essentially their third game in league history in this century, as they suffered in 1981 and 1991. Nonetheless, so famous was President Trump that hardly a few had noticed his invitation, the first ever time in history by a sitting president.
