The Caroline Panthers have come out as one of the free agent winners in the NFL.
The first day of the legal tampering period of the NFL began on March 9. On the first day itself, Panthers general manager Dan Morgan finalized two deals. These deals include two of their top targets, top pass rusher Jaelan Phillips and Pro Bowl inside linebacker Devin Lloyd.
After that, they’ve also added two potential starters along the offensive line. The names of those two are: left tackle Rasheed Walker and center Luke Fortner.
With the signings of these depth players, Morgan’s attention has now turned completely to the 2026 NFL Draft.
During Tuesday’s pre-draft press conference at Bank of America Stadium, Morgan said, “We’re nine days away.”
At the moment, Morgan didn’t want to reveal how many players remain on their list of 600 potential prospects. He said, “We’re in a good spot.”
Since they’ve filled so many roster roles during free agency, Morgan said that his draft team is “ready for all scenarios.”
During the NFL Draft event on April 23-25 in Pittsburgh, the Panthers are scheduled to pick at No. 19. However, it is also a possibility that Morgan decides to move out of the position and add more draft capital.
When asked about it, he said they created additional revenue to explore.
Here is what Morgan said.
“If anything, I think it opens up a lot of possibilities. I think all positions are on the table. And like I said before, you never know who’s gonna fall down to us.”
Morgan also said that he will target a pass-rush specialist in the first round. The possible prospect is quarterback Bryce Young, or maybe a top offensive tackle.
“So I think we’re definitely in the best-player available mindset. So, yeah, I think what we did in free agency set us up to do that.”
