Jude Bellingham’s gesture toward the Slovakia bench in England’s 2-1 victory in the round of 16 at Euro 2024 has resulted in a fine, however, he was able to avoid a suspension from the tournament.

The control ethics and disciplinary body of UEFA issued a fine to the footballer €30,000 for the gesture made in their dramatic round of 16 wins.

The 21-year-old celebrated his stunning 95th-minute overhead kick with a kiss of his hand appearing to grab his crotch area. Jude termed the incident as “an inside-joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game.” However, the control ethics and disciplinary body of UEFA concluded their investigation on Friday and declared that the Real Madrid star had “violated the basic rules of decent conduct.”

Here is their statement on this.

“The body had decided to fine the English Football Association player Jude Bellingham €30,000 and to suspend him for a total of one UEFA competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible for violating the basic rules of decent conduct.”

“Said suspension is not immediately enforced and is subject to a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of the present decision.”

There was also a separate fine for the Football Association for “crowd disturbances” and the “lighting of fireworks.” The fine was €11,000.

Now, Bellingham will have to be careful in the future as UEFA will keep an eye on him for the future. If he is caught for any similar gestures in the next 12 months, then it would not be good for him.

If we see him doing this again in Dusseldorf, there might be a potential ban against Turkey or the Netherlands.
