Young English uncapped domestic player James Coles becomes the most expensive buy in the first-ever auction held for Men’s Hundred.
The uncapped Englishman, James Coles, was picked by the London Spirit for GBP 390,000. In the last few months, he had seen a sudden rise in popularity due to his performances. It was expected of him to grab a lot of eyeballs in this auction. However, we didn’t expect a team to spend a little over one-third of their purse on a single player.
His popularity led to a chase by multiple teams for him before the London Spirit picked him.
Apart from Coles, Jordan Cox, the MVP of the 2025 season, was bought for GBP 300,000 by Welsh Fire. They also snatched up Joe Root for GBP 240,000. This team spent more than half of their purse on these two players.
Adil Rashid, Root’s England teammate, went to Southern Brave for GBP 250,000. Tom Curran was bought by MI London for GPB 260,000.
On the international front, David Miller was the first player to receive a bid. He went to Southern Brave for GBP 110,000. His countryman, Aiden Markram, was snatched by the Manchester Super Giants for GBP 200,000. He also became the highest-paid overseas player for this auction.
Another purchase by Sunrisers Leeds for a massive GBP 190,000 of Abrar Ahmed grabbed a lot of attention in this auction.
Many other players like Finn Allen, Ryan Rickelton, Matt Henry, and Sherfane Rutherford were also picked by different teams. On the other hand, high-profile overseas players like Sikandar Raza, Lungi Ngidi, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Azmatullah Omarzai went unsold.
Have a look at the complete squads of all teams.
