In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, Italy stuns Nepal to register their first-ever win in a World Cup game. On Thursday, they thrashed Nepal by 10 wickets in Mumbai, India.
Anthony and Justin Mosca, two brothers playing for Italy, sealed the iconic victory with an unbeaten stand for 124 runs against Nepal. Earlier, Italy bowled out Nepal for a measly 123 runs at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Italy registered its first win in only the second match at the global tournament. In the men’s T20 World Cup history, it was only the 8th 10-wicket victory. Italy became only the second non-British European team after the Netherlands to win a game in the T20 World Cup. Nepal was riding high in the World Cup after giving England a scare on Sunday.
Batting first, Nepal were bundled out for just 123 runs. It was a below-par performance from Nepal. Only three players were able to reach more than 20 runs. Crishan Kalugamage, the Sri-Lankan-born spinner, picked wickets for 18 runs. Ben Manenti also contributed with 2 wickets for 9 runs. Nepal’s batting collapsed and lost seven wickets for just 30 runs.
In response, Italy came out all guns blazing and made 68 runs in the powerplay without losing any wickets. Even after the powerplay, the Mosca brothers continued their assault and reached 100 in the 11th over. By the 13th over, Italy won the match by 10 wickets. It was a complete thrashing by Italy.
Anthony Mosca made 62 off 32 balls, and Justinmade 60 off 44 balls. It was an all-round show from Italy to dismantle Nepal.
