UFC Fight Night had an incredible main event, featuring the former two-time UFC flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno, competing against recent title contender Steve Erceg. Moreno just won via decision against Amir Albazi, which broke his two-fight losing streak. On the other hand, Erceg also wants to stop his two-fight losing streak by fighting in the main event.
The co-main event will take place between Manuel Torres and Drew Dober in a lightweight clash. Here is everything about the fight card in UFC Mexico. Moreno (22-8-2) is currently ranked No. 2 in the official UFC flyweight rankings. At 30 years old, he is a former two-time champion in the 125-pound division. His first reign began in June 2021 when he submitted Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263.
However, he lost the title back to Figueiredo in their rematch at UFC 270 in January 2022 by decision. In July 2022, Moreno captured the interim flyweight championship with a TKO victory over Kai Kara-France at UFC 277. He then reclaimed the undisputed title from Figueiredo with a TKO win at UFC 283 in January 2023.
Moreno scored yet another title reign at 213 pounds, but just like his first title reign, this too ended without a defence, with Alexandre Pantoja beating him in July 2023 with a split decision. After that, he lost yet again to Brandon Royval through another split decision in February 2024.
Moreno tumbled into a decision win over Amir Albazi in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in Edmonton last November as a rebound from that setback. Following this victory, he has not stepped back into the octagon.
Steve Erceg (12-3) is one of the more upcoming fighters to the promotion, as it already only features five bouts within the company before being a surprise title fight in May 2024.
