Nikolas Khamenia, a four-star forward, committed to Duke over the likes of UCLA and Zags on Tuesday afternoon.
With this, Duke coach Jon Scheyer continued his success on the recruiting front by landing a four-star forward.
He announced his college decision on a YouTube livestream through 247Sports.com.
When asked about why, he said, “It was honestly … just a gut feeling. Going on my visit, it felt like my next home and ultimately I think that is the best place for me.”
The California native and star at Harvard Westlake High School committed to Duke over other spectacular offers.
With this confirmation, Duke just jumped to the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the 2025 class. This is going to be the second consecutive top class under Scheyer. The Blue Devils finished on top of the 2024 recruiting class as well when they added the No. 1 overall prospect Cooper Flagg.
He further states, “Duke values my versatility. Jon Scheyer is a young coach who relates to his guys and they have a coaching staff where a lot of them played at Duke. Chris Carrawell is one of the coaches who was also a player there.”
Nikolas is the third commitment for Duke in this cycle. He joined Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who jointly committed to the program earlier this month. They are the sons of former Duke standout and NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer. They marked the first commitment to the Blue Devils in the current 2025 cycle.
Earlier this month, the Boozer Brothers committed to Duke over Miami and Florida.
Before Duke jumped to the first in the recruiting class this year, Notre Dame was in the first position.
