Brooks Koepka recently played in the Cognizant Classic on the PGA Tour. It was his third tournament on his comeback PGA Tour. He started the tournament with a round of 74 (+3).
It started as another disappointment, but he started doing well in the following rounds. He shot a 66, then a 69, and finally a brilliant 65 in the final round.
Now, people started wondering if Koepka is struggling with the adjustment process. Or whether he will improve his performance in this season.
The 35-year-old golfer chatted with the media after the tournament and answered a few questions. He was asked whether he was still adjusting to life on the PGA Tour. Koepka stated that playing in his third tournament of the season feels natural now.
Koepka said, “No, I think a lot of that was first week.”
“Once you get inside the ropes, it feels natural. I think it’s easier once you get inside those ropes.”
“Once the first week, doing all the media stuff and getting all that out of the way, it was a huge thing for me, and now it’s just a matter of going to play and build a rhythm.”
Koepka is a man with a lot of experience. However, returning from LIV Golf to the PGA Tour is a difficult process. That is because the media is interested in a lot of things.
In two weeks, he will be playing in the Players Championship. It is a tournament that holds enormous value for everyone involved in the PGA Tour.
Brooks Koepka is unable to clearly define his goals for this tournament and for the next season. He is also aware that there is a lot of unpredictability and that the competition is very strong.
Koepka also recalled his past performances in this tournament. However, we will have to wait a bit to see if he can match his best this time. If he does, it can be the start of something new for him.
