The Milwaukee Brewers are calling up right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, one of the best pitching prospects in baseball, as reported by ESPN. The right-hander Jacob Misiorowski is expected to start the Brewers Thursday game against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field.
The 23-year-old was the 63 overall pick in the 2022 draft. He has been good at Triple-A this season, pitching to a 2.13 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 63 ⅓ innings. According to stats, his fastball has averaged 97.7 mph. His fastest ball was 103 mph this season. In the MLB, the only starter with a better average is Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes at 98.1 mph.
Jose Quintana is currently lined up to start Thursday’s game for the Brewers. The team is in the middle of a 10-games-10-day bounce. So, it is possible that they are calling up Misiorowski for a spot start just to give their starters an extra day to rest. If he is given a permanent position, then it is possible that a starter is injured. For the most part, the starters for Milwaukee have done well recently.
The franchise has lost two straight games in the last six games; however, their pitching was not at fault. In the last six games, the Brewers scored 16 runs total. Of these 16 runs, 9 of them came in one game. Their offense has let them down in these matches. Misiorowski can help his team win by preventing the opposing team from scoring runs.
In the NL Central, the Brewers are in third with 35-32. Jacob will be the 13th starting pitcher for Milwaukee this year.
