Blake Snell, the left-hander, has agreed to a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers worth $182 million. CBS Sports HQ has confirmed this.

In this deal, Snell will get a $52 million signing bonus and some deferred money, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Dodgers have yet to make this official. However, Snell did post an image of himself in the Dodger uniform on Instagram. According to the source, the contract is pending a physical.

Last offseason, Snell settled for a two-year contract with San Francisco Giants worth $62 million despite winning his second Cy Young award in 2023. He was a good player for them, especially in the second half of the season.

After that, Snell chose to opt out of a contract to re-enter free agency. Now, he has been able to land a multi-year deal with one of the best teams in the league.

Snell finished his 2024 season with a 3.12 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 20 starts and 104 innings for the Giants. In the first half of the season, he missed a few games due to groin strains. He returned to the league on July 9 and then pitched to a 1.23 ERA in his final 12 starts.

With the Dodgers, Snell will join a potentially deep rotation. National League MVP Shohei Ohtani will resume his pitching duties in 2025. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was limited to just 18 starts in his first MLB season because of a cuff strain and triceps issue.

Another good player, Tyler Glasnow is no stranger to injury troubles. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts was forced to navigate the postseason with just three healthy starting pitchers. So, the Dodgers are once again piling up rotation depth in the team.
