Ben Curran has now received his maiden call-up to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. He has been selected for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan.
Ben is the son of former Zimbabwe cricketer Kevin Curran. He also has two brothers Tom and Sam Curran, who play for England.
Ben has been rewarded for his performance in domestic cricket in the country.
In addition to Ben, Zimbabwe has also handed a maiden call-up to a young left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri. He is a talented 18-year-old player who impressed the selectors with his performance in this year’s Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. He was the highest wicket-taker in the country.
Nyamhuri has been picked for both ODIs and T20Is. These players come in place of Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, and Clive Madande. Zimbabwe have not made any more changes to the squad they fielded against Pakistan last month. With the same squad, they managed to defeat Pakistan in the first ODI. However, they lost the series in the end.
The Afghanistan series will kick off with a three-match T20I series scheduled to be held in Harare from December 11-14. After that, the ODI series will be played at the same venue.
