Two exciting NFL matchups were announced by Amazon on Tuesday for the fans during the elite ad front in New York. The two games announced will take place on Black Friday and Christmas Day in 2025 to offer fans thrilling holidays. The existing Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, will be facing the Chicago Bears in the game scheduled on Black Friday.
Since the past few seasons, Amazon Prime Video has developed the day after Thanksgiving as a new slot for holding matches. This year, Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football will fall on Christmas Day, and it will feature a battle between the Chiefs and Broncos. These announcements come just ahead of the release of the National Football League (NFL) schedule, slated for Wednesday. At Fox’s upfront, the network also revealed that it will air an exclusive Week 16 doubleheader in December.
Last year, Netflix signed a multi-year agreement for NFL games on Christmas, and Netflix’s upfront is scheduled for Wednesday. Amazon Prime Video will also broadcast an NFL wild-card playoff game in January, right after the holiday games. Jay Marine, Vice President and global head of sports and ads at Prime Video, mentioned that viewership on Black Friday surged by more than 40% from its first edition last year in 2023. He said he is really looking forward to this Christmas game between the Chiefs and Broncos, which is quite special and interesting because of the star power that will be there on the field.
Marine said in a statement, “The holiday shopping season stands as one of the most critical stretches of the year for advertisers and retailers looking to attract the massive audiences that congregate around major events.” He further added that Amazon Prime Video has an amazing lineup for the fans during this period, along with an unmatchable full-funnel offering that they would enjoy a lot.
