The record for the fastest 50 in IPL is held by an Indian youngster, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), he reached 50 runs in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023. 

His innings were a masterclass in aggressive batting that featured five sixes and 12 boundaries. His explosive start at the top of the order provided RR necessary impetus to win the match.

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR) – 13 Ball

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for Rajasthan Royals, holds the record for fastest 50 in IPL. He achieved this record by scoring 50 runs in just 13 balls in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 11, 2023. 

RR was chasing a modest target of 149/8 and Jaiswal blitzed his way towards winning the match. He and Sanju Samson won that match in just 13.1 overs. Jaiswal hit 5 sixes and 12 fours in his extraordinary inning. 

2. KL Rahul (KXIP) – 14 Ball

Number two on the list is KL Rahul, former Punjab Kings captain. He holds the record for the fastest 50 in IPL in just 14 balls. Before Yashasvi Jaiswal took over, the 14-ball fifty was the record that stood for five years. 

Back in 2018, KL played one hell of a knock against the Delhi Capitals to guide his team to victory. Punjab were chasing a decent 166 runs. The fifty from KL ensured that they could easily achieve their target. 

3. Pat Cummins (KKR) – 14 Ball

The next on the list is Pat Cummins. The Australian bowling all-rounder has the record for the lowest ball fifty in IPL. He also played a blinder against Mumbai Indians in 2022. 

Pat usually bats down the order, but in that game, he came at number 7 with a focus to ensure victory for his team. It only took him 15 balls to make 56 runs while chasing down the 161 set by Mumbai. 

4. Yusuf Pathan (SRH) – 15 Ball

Now we have one of the most explosive Indian batsmen, Yusuf Pathan, on this list. Yusuf has been known to plonk high hits into the stands. Now retired, the cricketer used to frighten bowlers on his day. 

For fifty runs, he only took 15 balls. Chasing a target of 160 in IPL 2014, Yusuf Pathan batted at number four and punished Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers all around the ground. Eventually, he made 72 runs in 22 balls before getting out. 

5. Sunil Narine (KKR) – 15 Ball

Now we have one of the best all-rounders from the Caribbean, Sunil Narine. Sunil Narine has been a revelation ever since he discovered his immense love for batting. We can often see Narine batting at the top of the order to provide some initial push. 

In a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunil Narine made a scintillating fifty of just 15 balls. It was the fastest 50 in IPL 2017. Eventually, he got out on 54 in 17 balls. But he did his job to give a solid platform to KKR. 

6. Nicholas Pooran (LSG) – 15 Ball

We have another West Indian in this list of batters to score the fastest fifty in IPL. Nicholas Pooran also joined Yashasvi Jaiswal on this list in 2023. He had a great 2023 season and was one of the top run scorers for Lucknow. 

In a match against RCB, Lucknow was chasing a target of 212. After some early blows, Pooran came to bat at number 6 when the team was in trouble. Pooran composed himself to play one of the best innings of his life to take Lucknow home in the chase. He registered a 15-ball fifty in the process. 

7. Jake Fraser-McGurk (DC) – 15 Ball

The 2024 IPL season belonged to batsmen, as they scored quickly on all kinds of wickets. Last season, youngsters from all around the world dominated the league. One such batter from Australia lit up the IPL with his antics on the field. 

Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a beautiful fifty while chasing a mammoth target of 266 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored a 15-ball fifty in an attempt to up the ante and score as many runs as possible. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to win the match in the end. 

8. Jake Fraser-McGurk (DC) – 15 Ball

Just after a week or so, Jake again hit a scintillating fifty for his team and provided the necessary platform to build on at the top of the order. He converted the 15-ball fifty to a 27-ball 84. 

Eventually, Delhi scored 257 runs for the loss of 4 wickets against Mumbai Indians. His inning included 6 sixes and 11 fours.

9. Suresh Raina (CSK) – 16 Bal

Suresh Raina, one of the highest scorers in IPL, has also hit a 16-ball fifty against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). The old guard of IPL also got a spot on this list. 

Suresh Raina, Mr. IPL himself, was batting at number three in a chase of 226 against Delhi Daredevils. He made 87 runs in just 25 balls. Other batters did not support him and they lost the match. This might be his best innings in a losing cause.  

10. Ishan Kishan (MI) – 16 Ball

A couple of years back, Ishan Kishan was in red-hot form. It was as if everything he touched turned to gold. In IPL 2021, Ishan Kishan played his best innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored a 16-ball fifty to give his team an excellent start. He scored 84 runs in just 32 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 11 fours.
