San Francisco rookie Tyler Fitzgerald became the first Giants player since Barry Bonds to hit a home run in five consecutive games for the team. He achieved this feat on Tuesday night against Los Angeles Dodgers righty Landon Knack.

He hit the home run at a 104-mph velocity and it carried the ball to some 379 feet. According to Statcast, the ball would have cleared 29 of 30 MLB parks. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the only exception.

Let’s check out the home run video of Tyler.

According to a stat from MLB, he is the eighth Giants player in franchise history to hit a home run in five or more consecutive games. The other players on this list are Barry Bonds, Robby Thompson, Jack Clark, Willie Mays, Walker Cooper, Mel Ott, and George Kelly. Among these eight players, Bonds and Mays did achieve this feat on four or more occasions.

However, one thing to notice here is that Tyler Fitzgerald is the only player among these eight superstars who achieved this feat as a rookie.

The 26-year-old southpaw entered Tuesday having hit .277/.338/.529 (145 OPS+) with seven home runs and nine stolen bases over the course of his first 48 games in the big league.

Primarily he played as shortstop as of late and the Tuesday game was no different. However, he has also seen action in center and at the non-first base infield positions as well. He was the fourth-round pick in 2019.

Here is what he said about this achievement.

“At the end of the day, we come here to win. Everything that I do is cool and all, and at the end of the year I’ll look back on this and smile about it. It will be cool. But we lost the game, so not a whole lot of good came from it. Hope to get a win tomorrow.”
