Amir Jangoo, the upcoming talent from Trinidad has shown potential at the international level after making a century on ODI debut.
Now, he is being rewarded for his temperament and willpower to score runs on the field. Amir Jangoo has been selected by the West Indies for the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.
The West Indies Cricket Board announced on Monday that Amir Jangoo will receive his maiden call-up for the Test series. Apart from Amir, the spin sensation Gudakesh Moite has also earned a recall to the side for this series. The Pakistan series is going to be the final series in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
Shamar Joseph has been sidelined as his rehabilitation has not been completed from the injuries. Alzarri Joseph was unavailable for the selection.
The West Indies and Pakistan series is set to begin on January 16, 2025, in Multan.
The West Indian coach Andre Coley said, “For the Test series against Pakistan in January 2025, the focus is on building on what we have done well and transforming the learnings from 2024 into tangible results. Motie rejoins the squad to bolster the spin attack, while Jangoo’s selection comes on the back of his consistency across formats in regional cricket, as well as his demonstrated high level of competency against spin bowling.”
Apart from this, the West Indian team is also slated to play a two-day warm-up game in Rawalpindi on January 11 and 12.
