Virat Kohli is all set to play in the next Delhi game in the Ranji Trophy.

He has now departed for Delhi after spending some time with Sanjay Bangar in Alibaug. The ace Indian batter worked intensely on his batting technique with the former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar at a Reliance cricket facility in the coastal town near Mumbai.

A video of Virat Kohli training with Bangar has been circling the social media. It sparked the speculations that he has been training in Mumbai for some time. Now, it has emerged that they were Alibaug.

Bangar has previously worked with Kohli in the Indian team and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. So, it should not be surprising for us that he turned to Bangar for his batting technique.

Some of the best performances of Kohli came during the tenure of Bangar with the Indian side. From 2014-2019, Bangar was the Indian men’s cricket team in the capacity of batting coach. During his tenure, the world has seen the best of Virat Kohli.

Recently, the performances of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been under the scanner. Despite scoring a century, Kohli could only make 190 runs in the five Bordar Gavaskar Trophy matches. After the series, fans wanted the heads of both senior Indian players. Rohit is also in equally bad form. There have been calls for the selectors to drop both men from the national side.

Kohli’s continuous vulnerabilities outside the off-stump have exposed shortfalls in his technique. That is why ahead of the Ranji game, he trained with Sanjay Bangar for about a week before leaving for Delhi. Now, he is slated to play in the next Delhi match. From January 30, Delhi is scheduled to take on Railways in an Elite Group D game at Delhi Stadium.

If Kohli features in that match, it will be his return to the Ranji Trophy in over 13 years. The last time Kohli featured in a domestic first-class game was in November 2012 against Uttar Pradesh.

BCCI is now requiring all players to go and play the domestic matches whenever they are free from international commitments.
