Dolphins Tyreek Hill was detained by the police on Sunday before his game. Now, the police department has released the body cam footage from the law enforcement officers involved in the altercation.
The videos obtained by CBSSports NFL insider Jonathan Jones show the encounter of Tyreek Hill with the police. In the Videos, we can see from the point where they made first contact to when they arrested him.
Have a look.
First, he was pulled over by the cops and then forcibly brought to the ground before cuffing the WR from Dolphins.
The first video shows the officer pulling Tyreek over his motorcycle. Then the officer walked to him and had a verbal exchange. You can see that from the videos. Hill told the officer to don’t knock on his window and then rolled it back up. Keeping his window up led to escalation between the officer and then another officer forcibly removed him from the car and pushed him to the ground.
After that, he was taken to the curbside. Again he was forcibly pushed to the curb and Hill could be heard telling officers that he had knee surgery.
Then, his various teammates who saw the situation tried to de-escalate things, including Calais Campbell.
Later, Campbell was also handcuffed and told that he was under arrest.
Here is what Hill said about the incident in his postgame interview. “I have no idea for real. It wasn’t disrespectful, because my mom didn’t raise me that way. Didn’t cuss. Did none of that. I’m still trying to figure that out. … I still don’t know what happened. But I do want to use this platform to say, what if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Worst-case scenario? It’s crazy. Like, I wanna be a cop one day. I got a State Trooper hat and all that. So I got a lot of respect for cops. But obviously everybody has some bad apples. … I wanna be able to use this platform to figure out a way to flip this and make it a positive.”
