Sunju Samson has suffered an abdominal injury during the last. He is set to miss the upcoming encounter with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The Rajasthan Royals team released a statement regarding the same. It said, “Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base with select RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be traveling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB.

“The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.”

He had also missed the previous encounter with Lucknow Super Giants due to the same region. He got injured during the match against Delhi Capitals.

However, it is not clear when Sanju will be declared fit to play. The timeline of his recovery is not yet clear. As with starting matches in the league, Riyan Parag has been deputized as captain in the absence of Sanju Samson. He had filled the role of captain of Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches at the start of the season when Samson was recovering from a surgery to his thumb. He was only allowed to bat at that time.

His injury came as an opportunity for the 14-year-old boy Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the last game of Rajasthan. Vaibhav had a good outing but their team could not win that match. The 2025 IPL season is not going great for RR as they are struggling to find form and are at the bottom of the table.

Now, this injury to Sanju is going to diminish their prospects even further.

Rajasthan Royals are set to play RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 24, 2025.
