Key Considerations to Watch for in Denver vs. Oklahoma City While Mark Daigneault and his staff will study Jeff Van Gundy’s successful tactics against Jokic from the first round. With Isaiah Hartenstein trying to fill the Ivica Zubac role and the irrefutable fact is that Jokic is the greatest basketball player in the world right now. There are only so many things any individual can do.
The Nuggets’ perpetual issues with Nikola Jokic off the bench are famous, and this again was made obvious during the just-concluded regular season, where Denver posted a -8.3 net rating when Jokic was sidelined. In their first-round series against the Clippers in the playoffs, that mounted to a -26.4 net rating with Jokic out.
At some point in this string, the NBA will announce the MVP award winner for the year, and Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will finish 1-2, most likely with Gilgeous-Alexander taking his first award. That should spark something in NBA fan experience.
