After the Gold medal finish in 100 meters for Noah Lyles, it looks like the end of the road for him in this Olympics.
His dream start to the Paris Olympics came crashing down, all thanks to Covid-19. Now, this illness is threatening to cut down his name from the rest of the event.
The superstar from the USA posted on Instagram about the end of the road for him in this Olympics.
Here is a part of the caption. “I believe this will be the end of my 2024 Olympics. It is not the Olympics I dreamed of but it has left me with so much Joy in my heart. I hope everyone enjoyed the show. Whether you were rooting for me or against me, you have to admit you watched, didn’t you?”
This post came shortly after he finished his 200-meter men’s sprint in third place. It was his signature event, he was disappointed with what happened to him. After the race, he received medical treatment and was taken in a wheelchair.
On Tuesday, he showed signs of Covid-19. After a positive test, he quarantined in a local hotel and got the fluids needed to get better. He still went ahead for the 200 meters event and came third in the race.
After the race he said “It definitely affected my performance.” It was not his best effort in the 200-meter event.
He was slated to participate in more events but it looks like he won’t be able to.
Here is what USA Track and Field said in a statement. “After a thorough medical evaluation, Noah chose to compete tonight. We respect his decision and will continue to monitor his condition closely. As an organization, we are rigorously adhering to CDC, USOPC, and IOC guidelines for respiratory illnesses to prevent the spread of illness among team members, safeguarding their health and performance.”
