Maxwell Might Miss Rest of IPL 2025 After Fracturing a Finger

We might not see Glenn Maxwell in the rest of IPL 2025 following a fractured finger. The Punjab captain, Shreyas Iyer, confirmed the injury at the toss ahead of the games against Chennai Super Kings on April 30.

Shreyas also mentioned that the team hasn’t thought about the replacement yet for Maxwell. So, it looks like Maxwell might not be returning to the IPL 2025 again. Here is what Shreyas had to say about Maxwell at the toss.

“It’s very unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger,” Shreyas said at the toss. “To be honest, we haven’t decided about the replacements yet so far but we are pretty strong in our team’s mindset and what we have outside of our playing XI. We’ve got a variety of players who can win you matches. So we’re going to stick to that as much as possible.”

Another Australian in the team, Marcus Stoinis also chatted about the injury and estimated that his season is over. He also said that Maxwell injured himself before the previous match against KKR, where he batted too. For the match against CSK, Punjab replaced him with Suryansh Shedge, they are playing with only three overseas players.

“Unfortunately, Maxi’s broken his finger. He broke it just before the last game at training. He didn’t think it was too bad, but it ended up getting pretty bad. He had scans and yeah, the results weren’t great. So unfortunately for Maxi, I think it’s likely he’s out for the tournament,” Stoinis told Jiostar.

This was not a good season for Maxwell as he struggled to get going this year. In the seven innings for Punjab this year, he scored only 48 runs.
