According to ESPN, the no. 2 wide receiver from Detroit Lions, Jameson Williams, is being hit with a two-game suspension. This suspension is for a violation of the new NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

This is not the first instance of suspension for Jameson as he was also suspended last season for a different volition. Last season, Williams served a four-game suspension in violation of the NFL’s gambling policy.

The 23-year-old was the first-round pick in 2022. He told ESPN that he won’t be appealing the discipline from the league. He says he has “no choice but to take it on the chin.”

He also said, “I’m in good spirits just ready to get back with my brothers ASAP, soon as possible.”

Detroit Lions are riding high thanks to their 5-1 in 2024 as they have managed to take an early lead for the top seed. It happened due to their 31-29 win over the Minnesota Vikings in week 6. However, with this suspension, the momentum seems to be slowed down as Williams was having one of the best seasons of his career.

His 361 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in six games are both career-highs. Among the Lions teammates, he is second in catches (17), receiving yards (361) and receiving touchdowns (three).

His 21.2 yards per reception ranks as the second most in the NFL so far this season. In this regard, he only trails Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (25.5) among 127 players with at least 15 catches in 2024.

Williams, Pierce, and Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jaguars are all tied for the most catches of at least 50 yards this season.

All in all, the Lions will miss their wide receiver in the next two games.
