Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow has decided to retire from sports after just seven seasons in the NFL. The 29-year-old announced his decision through an Instagram post on Monday. The primary concern for retiring is his future health.
Ragnow was drafted in the NFL in 2018 and since then he has started 96 season games for Lions. Over the years, he played some of the best plays you can see in the center. Now, he had a reputation of being one of the best centers in the game. However, he decided to close the curtain on his short career.
In the Instagram post, he said it has been very trying for him to sort out the future for him. In these past months, he came to the conclusion that his body doesn’t feel good enough to continue playing the sport.
“I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m feeling good but I’m not and it’s time to prioritize my health and my families future,” Ragnow wrote. “I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don’t. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.”
