All sources point to the same thing: the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to sign a new deal with their star forward, LeBron James.
According to a report by ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, the odds of LeBron James returning for a final NBA season are pretty high. So, he predicts that James might return to Los Angeles.
Spears also conjectured that the Lakers could reunite James with his former Cleveland Cavaliers NBA champion teammate, who stopped Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry during a pivotal moment in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
Spear said, “I’m hearing that (LeBron’s) likely coming back (to the Lakers). Kevin Love could likely be joining the Lakers, too.”
You may think that Love is not the best forward in his prime; however, he is still a formidable asset in his late 30s. This season, he averaged 6.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game with the Utah Jazz. He shot 39.7% from the field and 37.3% from beyond the arc in 37 contests.
Recently, Love reunited with James and members of the history-making 2015-16 Cavaliers squad in the United Kingdom. He would be happy to receive such a late career opportunity to play again with LeBron James, a future Hall of Famer.
The Lakers need more floor spacing in their offensive system. It is a system that offers many drive-and-kick opportunities to capable three-point shooters. Kevin Love perfectly fits in that category. So, he would be a great addition to the team and its play style.
