On Sunday, Cherki showed he a genius of this era. He picked the ball off Matheus Nunes just outside the Arsenal box and there is not much on. His front is loaded with best defence in land, Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba. While Declan Rice was to his left.
He picked up the ball and races into the Arsenal box running at Gabriel and also increasing his speed. The wrong footed Gabriel tried to reach it via a stretched leg but Cherki simple dribbled past it.
Rice tried with another tackle but Cherki was alert and saw it coming. He simple shifted the ball to his right. Aaliba was in front of him but his shot was a snap hit into the far side-netting.
Erling Haaland and Gabriel had been engaged in for the whole match. The play started when Gianluigi Donnarumma found inexplicably unmarked Nico O’Reilly and he ran the length of the pitch and exchanged a passes with Jérémy Doku. then he slapped the ball across the face of the goal where Gabriel was busy with outmuscling Halland.
Gabriel was confident that he had Halland under check. But Halland made his move in a snap by holding off Gabriel with ease and slipping around him. This way, he easily reached to the ball first. However, Gabriel didn’t let it go easily adn pulled Halland down. He was falling and off-balance but stil find s the accuracy of hitting the ball into the far corner with a finish.
It was a sublime finish for Halland. In a split second he won the battle with Gabriel and made the most of the situation.
With the contributions from these two, Man City crushed Arsenal and put another twist in the Premier League title race.
