UP Warriorz has acquired the services of Australian batter Georgia Voll to replace outgoing Chamari Athapaththu for the rest of the WPL 2025.
Chamari has left the UPW camp to resume national duties with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is set to play New Zealand from March 4.
It is learned that the Australian batter will join the UPW team for INR 30 Lakh. It will be a great addition to the team as Voll will add depth to their squad in the remaining matches. The UPW team is looking to push forward in this tournament.
Voll is a promising young woman who impressed us with her performances in international matches. The 21-year-old player made a century in just her second ODI and has already represented Australia in all formats. She has played three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test for Australia.
In the WBBL, she used to play for Brisbane Heat and then moved to Sydney Thunder. Last year, playing for Sydney, she scored a couple of 90+ scores to stamp her authority in the WBBL. She has also won the Women’s Domestic Player of the Year award at the Cricket Australia Awards this year.
It means she will be a big boost for UPW in the remaining matches. UPW is not in a good position right now as they have won only two matches out of five. So, they need to win more matches to make it to the playoffs. Georgia Voll could prove to be a match-winner for UPW.
