Austin Reed

Tyson Bagent, the quarterback from Chicago Bears, is one of the best success stories in the NFL as an undrafted free agent rookie in 2023.

However, for Bagant, we have multiple players like Austing Reed. In 2024, Bears signed Reed as an undrafted free agent. However, Reed was never elevated to the QB2 spot. He has never taken a regular snap in the league.

He was a great in the last two preseasons for Chigao Bears, but they cut him last August. They decided that Case Keenum will be their QB3 behind Caleb Williams and Bagent for the 2025 season.

After that, Reed went to Dallas Renegades in the UFL as a starting quarterback. He had a record breaking debut as he tallied 376 passing yards to set an all-time record. He also completed 27-of-40 pass attempts in that game and connected on three touchdowns as well.

From there things looked good for the quarterback. However, they have taken a turn for the worse since then.

Since then, Reed has thrown only six INTs to just four scores amid a three game skid in Dallas. However, he continues to lead the UFL with 1,360 passing yards across six starts. His 13 touchdowns are also in the top in the league.

His 7 interceptions are also the most for any quarterback. He has completed just 56.9 percent of his passes.

But the point is that his inaccuracy against lower level of defensive competitions is a red flag for any NFL team who might be thinking of bring Reed over.

The NFL teams want accuracy and limiting mistakes above all else, but his more than one turnover per game is also not helping.

We are past the days when a quarterback could play in NFL despite having loads of interceptions in the league.
