In the second round of the NFL Draft 2026, the Falcons selected Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell as the 48th overall pick of the draft.
On Friday, in Pittsburgh, Terrell joins his older brother A.J. at the Atlanta Falcons. A.J. was a 2021 second-team All-Pro selection who became a mainstay in Atlanta’s secondary over the last six years.
After the announcement, A.J. naturally wrapped his younger brother in an emotional embrace. They realized that they would soon be teammates in the NFL. Now, Atlanta Football is a family affair.
Here is what Avieon Terrell said later on Friday. “I just feel blessed to be able to play on the field with my brother, my blood.”
“I feel good. It’s something that I talked to him about. And here we go.”
Aveieon’s strengths are similar to A.J.’s. He displayed fluid movement and premier athleticism for an excellent cover corner with the Tigers. He had three career interceptions and 25 pass breakups over three seasons at Clemson. He also received two all-conference honors for his efforts. He earned second-team selection in 2024 and a first-team nod in 2025.
In the 2026 class, he stood as the best corner with a willingness to get his nose dirty. He also logged 125 tackles over three years. Despite being short in stature, Terrell plays with a physical nature that makes him a strong press corner.
Terrell has great ball skills and versatility. So, it is likely that he will share the field with his brother soon. His addition will surely double the family’s interest in Falcons football.
