Matt Fitzpatrick collected the check at the PGA Classic, but Alex Fitzpatrick was the real winner of the Zurich Classic.
On the 18th, the Fitzpatrick brothers emerged victorious after a glorious mid-range shot from Matt. Matt is also the current U.S. Open Champ. Alex realized the fulfillment of his greatest life dream.
Here is what Alex Fitzpatrick said afterwards. “Yeah, I’m still lost for words.”
“Just an overwhelming emotion of happiness. As Matt said, at the start of the week, it was coming here to be a family and spend time with each other, eat Mr. B’s, and have a great week. To be sitting here now and doing what we did, yeah, I’m pretty speechless.”
Do you want to know why Alex was speechless? His win was bigger than just winning the title at a PGA Tour event. It was even bigger than a winner’s check. He also won a series of career-defining perks after winning the Zurich Classic. We will list all of them below.
Alex Fitzpatrick Winnings at Zurich Classic
A PGA Tour card – The most significant win at the event for Alex is the PGA Tour Status. He won the full PGA Tour status through the end of 2028 by winning this event.
A PGA Championship invite – He also earned an invite into the PGA Championship at Aronimink with his win. This will be his second career major championship start after the 2023 Open Championship.
A Players Championship invite – He also got an invite to the PGA Tour’s flagship event next March at TPC Sawgrass. All thanks to his win at the Zurich Classic.
Signature Events – If a player wants to multiply their winnings, the Tour’s $20 million Signature Events series is a great place to start. Alex Fitzpatrick will have a chance to do that at the Sinture Events in the coming months. He received these invites on Sunday evening. For the rest of 2026, Alex will be playing some of the most lucrative golf events, such as the Cadillac Championship, Truist Championship, Memorial Tournament, and Travelers Championship.
The Winnings – In his entire career, Alex won close to $3 million as a pro player. Nearly half of that total was won on Sunday. He added $1.375 million to his career earnings through golf events.
