The New Orleans Saints suffered a major loss with Derek Carr. They have now played a second straight game Thursday night without Carr.
Well, the Saints may not have to wait too long for their starting quarterback to return to the field. According to NFL Media, there is a chance that Derek Carr might resume practice to return to week 8.
In the Week 5 loss of the New Orleans Giants against the Kansas City Chiefs, Derek suffered an oblique injury. After that injury, he had to go out and couldn’t finish the game. It was estimated that he could be sidelined for at least a month. The rookie Spencer Rattler has been filling his position in the last two matches. Spencer has been making an extended appearance as the starter.
Technically, Carr is listed as doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Denver Broncos. They just couldn’t rule him inactive for the game. However, the quarterback could face additional hurdles to a game-day return even if he practices next week.
Ian Rapoport says, “A lot … has to happen for him to be out there,” including testing the injury in live drills.
So, it is a potential week 8 return for Derek. He’d have extra time to prepare for this return.
For Thursday’s game with Denver and Oct 27’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the New Orleans Saints will have 10 days. So, it might be possible for Derek to return to the team with a bit of practice. Let’s hope for the best as Saints depend a lot on him.
Carr went 2-3, including eight touchdowns to four interceptions, before getting injured this season. So, he was performing well.
