We all know that Jorge Masvidal wants to return to MMA. He would like to participate in the UFC’s much-discussed White House event. He has made his eagerness to participate known. His comeback could coincide with Conor McGregor’s return. And he could fight Jorge. According to recent rumors, this could happen at the White House event.
Jorge Masvidal addressed these rumors in the recent “The Ariel Helwani Show.” Here is what he told Uncrowned about the prospect of fighting McGregor at the White House.
“It’s not looking bad right now. I can’t say too much more, but it’s not looking bad right now. They’re talking, dialogue has been open, there’s communication there, and we’ll keep that communication going.”
“I’m going to beat the f***ing dog s*** out of him. Straight-up, stand-up style. None of that grappling. I’m just going to get in your face, knee your ribs, elbow your f***ing face.”
In April 2023, Jorge retired from the MMA after a loss. However, he returned to the ring in July 2024 against Nate Diaz. He is still under contract with UFC. Jorge said on Monday that he and his manager are in negotiations with the promotion for a potential McGregor fight.
If the fight happens, it will bring back the heyday of Masvidal when he was the BMF champion. He got this title in 2019 against Nate Diaz. At that time, the fight between Jorge and McGregor was considered a spectacle, but it never materialized. The UFC CEO Dana White insisted that Masvidal was too large for McGregor.
In the end, Masvidal doesn’t even care if he fights with McGregor or not. He just hopes that he gets to fight at White House.
“The White House card is, for me, everything,” Masvidal said. “I want to be on this card very bad and there’s more speculation going on. We’re talking to UFC. Ali is talking to Dana. Ali is talking to Hunter.
“I pray to God I get on this card, because this is the White House.”
Should this fight happen, both men would want to break their multi-fight losing streak.
