Chiefs Bringing Back Kareem Hunt After Isiah Pacheco Injury

    Kareem Hunt

On Tuesday, Kareem Hunt visited the Kansas City Chiefs for potential talks. The 29-year-old was drafted by the same team back in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The meeting between them went well and back-to-back Super Bowl champions are signing him on Wednesday. Kareem will begin his second innings with the Chiefs with the practice squad.

His services were needed for them due to their starting running back Isiah Pacheco getting injured. As per CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, Isiah Pacheco ended up on the injured list with a fibula injury that will reportedly cost him the next six to eight weeks.

Hunt was cut from the team in 2018. He only lasted a year with the chiefs. He was cut from the team after a video of him kicking a woman in a hotel surfaced.

For the last four years, Hunt was with the Cleveland Browns. He served hand-to-hand with Nick Chubb. In his time with the Cleveland Browns, he totaled 2,285 yards and 25 touchdowns with a 4.0 yards-per-carry average. He also caught 147 passes for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns.

He ran for 411 yards and a career-high nine rushing touchdowns in 2024. After that, he spent time with Jerome Ford after Chubb’s knee injury in Pittsburgh. However, he was not able to perform to the fullest in that season.

Once Hunt is acclimatized with the playbook of Head Coach Andy Reid, he will play with the Chiefs backfield. He will have to split the time with Samaje Perine and rookie Carson Steele.
