The Chargers signed kicker Cameron Dicker to a multiyear extension worth $22.04M.

The team announced the extension this Friday, however, the details of the deal were not revealed. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $22.04M for four years. The extension also includes a clause of $12.5 million guaranteed.

The team rewarded Dicker after he had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023. In that season, Dicker was one of the most consistent players of the Chargers. He also set a new franchise record for 50+ yard field goals made in a season with 7.

Up until that point he had kind of a winding journey. In 2022, he went undrafted out of the University of Texas. After that, he was with three different teams during his rookie season before getting to the Chargers in week 7 of the season. An injury to Dustin Hopkins opened up a spot.

Throughout the last offseason, he and Hopkins competed with each other for that spot, eventually, Dicker got the job. Ultimately, the Chargers traded Hopkins to the Browns.

He then became quite the fan favorite after his exploits in the game went viral through a video shared by the Chargers.

Even Coach Jim Harbaugh praised him earlier this month.

“I think one of the great virtues on our team is Cameron Dicker,” Coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier this month. “The way he goes about his business, epitomizes confidence, true confidence, and really great at what he does. That’s starting to rub off on me.

“… If I could live my life the way Cameron Dicker goes about his, what a fun, enjoyable life that would be.”
