The Brazilian MMA star Alex Pereira has accused Ciryl Gane of landing multiple illegal shots during their fight at the white house event.
During the UFC Freedom 250 White House event, Gane finished off Pereira in the second round and won an emphatic title on Sunday. Gane sent Pereira stumbling with a right jab followed by a hammer fist. Following that, the referee stopped the fight 1min 27sec into the round after a left to the chin.
After that jab, Gane floored Pereira with a brutal sequence that included elbows to the back of the head. Let me remind you that strikes to the back of the head are illegal in MMA.
Voicing concerns for the same, Pereira took to social media and lashed out at Gane because it was difficult for him to recover after the round from those illegal shots.
He even criticized referee Herb Dean and said that he should not have been picked for the fight.
Here is what Pereira said in a video he posted on Instagram. “I think if it weren’t for those punches, I wouldn’t be in that situation.”
It was in Portuguese, and we translated it into English. He further elaborated, “When the jab landed, I fell and grabbed his legs. Throwing elbows and punches, the guy was desperate. He landed a punch that he couldn’t even believe, and then he wanted to end the fight no matter what. The ref was there watching. The guy hits me, I fall, and he starts throwing punches. The guy sees it’s an illegal hit, but he’s there thinking, ‘Bro, how can I stop this fight?’”
“Man, it’s the regulations. It’s in the rulebook. You’re wrong if you don’t stop it. That’s in the rules. What makes me more upset is that I warned him. But [the referee] doesn’t have the guts, man. He’s not a real man.”
He even urged UFC Chief Dana White to take action against the referee for blatant disregard for rules.
“You should set an example with him as it’s done with fighters when they ruin the image of the organization,” he wrote in an Instagram story.
This Sunday, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, celebrated his 80th birthday and the nation’s 250th anniversary. To celebrate that, White House organized an unusual UFC Freedom 250 event at the south lawn.
