In the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, French President Emmanuel Macron and his sports minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra were seen kissing intimately. The photos have been growing crazy viral on social media, while some netizens have been labeling the whole situation as “awkward”.

In the viral picture, Macron is seen tightly gripping the arm of Amélie, while the former professional tennis player (Amélie Oudéa-Castéra) plants a kiss on the French president’s neck. Amélie has also been seen grabbing Macron’s arm slightly tighter, while her other hand is wrapped affectionately around the president’s neck.

There have been some mixed comments from the netizens.

One wrote…  “Brigitte [Macron’s wife] won’t like it.”

While the other said, “I find this photo indecent, it’s not worthy of a president and a minister.”

Some of them even commented on Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who is standing in discomfort in the background.

Gabriel Attal, he pretends to look elsewhere! He doesn’t know where to stand!” one commented on the viral picture.

Overall, the situation was thought to be “awkward” by some netizens, while others added there was nothing unusual. For instance, one person commented, “I don’t see the harm in it. The French are known for kissing on both cheeks as a greeting. Vive La France!”
