The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction was held in the beautiful city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24, and 25 this year.
In this mega auction, the teams had the opportunity at Abady Al-Johar Arena over two days to build a strong core for their teams for the next three seasons.
All 10 franchises gathered at the IPL 2025 auction to select the best players for their teams. In this write-up, we will look at how this mega auction shaped up the teams that will play in IPL 2025.
IPL 2025 Auction Date: When and Where?
You must know that this time, the IPL Auction 2025 was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabia cricket board was delighted to host the IPL auction. They also vowed to develop the cricket infrastructure to host cricket games in the future.
This was the second consecutive year for the BCCI to host the IPL auctions outside the country. The IPL 2024 auction was held in Dubai. With each IPL team’s increasing fan base across the world, IPL is certainly becoming a truly global sports league.
The IPL live auction took place on November 24 and 25 last month. Where all 10 IPL teams tried to outsmart each other to get the best talent for their squads.
IPL 2025 Auction: Most Expensive Players
Each team had a Rupees 120 crore budget to build a complete team of a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players, which includes a maximum of 8 foreigners. This year, we saw some mind-bending bids in the auction to snatch local talents.
This year, the most expensive player at the IPL auction was Rishabh Pant. LSG bagged Pant for 27 crores.
The most expensive overseas player at the IPL auction was Jos Buttler. GT bagged Buttler for 15.75 crores.
The most expensive uncapped player at the IPL 2025 auction was Rasikh Dar. RCB bagged him for 6 crores.
IPL Auction 2025: All Players and Squads
This auction witnessed historic spending by franchises as they splurged heavily on marquee players. Punjab Kings surprised everyone when they signed former KKR captain Shreyas Iyer for 26.75 crores.
And then, there was the 27-crore bid by Lucknow Super Giants to bag Rishabh Pant. Adding to this already entertaining auction, KKR surprised everyone by re-signing their star allrounder Venkatesh Iyer for 23.75 crores.
RR also made a record of signing 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for 1.10 crores. He was the youngest player to ever be signed to play in the IPL.
A total of 182 players were signed by the 10 IPL teams in the IPL mega auction 2025 in Jeddah. The franchises splurged 639.15 crore rupees.
