Junior Bridgeman, an ex-Milwaukee Bucks player is now buying a stake in the team, as per a report.
Junior Bridgeman played for the Milwaukee Bucks for 10 seasons and had his No. 2 jersey retired. With this deal, the valuation of the franchise will soar to $4 billion. However, Bridgeman is getting a preferred limited partner discount. It means that he will be getting the stake at a $3.4 billion valuation.
Junior Bridgeman started his NBA career with the Bucks. In 1975, he arrived on the team as part of the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trade. It was almost after three weeks of being drafted no. 8 by the Los Angeles Lakers.
He played 9 seasons straight with the Bucks and was an important part of the team. He would have won the Sixth Man of the Year award multiple times had the award existed back in the day. In 1984, the team traded him to the Los Angeles Clippers. He returned to the Bucks in the 1986-87 season.
After that season, he retired from the game having played 711 games for the Milwaukee Bucks. That was an all-time record for the franchise until Giannis Antetokounmpo surpassed it in 2023.
Junior Bridgeman made his fortunes in media and owns Ebony and Jet magazines. According to a recent profile on him by ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, he is worth $600 million. He has also found success in fast food, Wendy’s, and Chili’s restaurants as a Coca-Cola bottling distributor.
