The Atlanta Braves have brought back their 2021 World Series MVP Jorge Soler. The team acquired Jorge Soler and Luke Jackson from a deal with the Giants.

Jorge Soler will receive a hero’s welcome when he returns to Atlanta this week to play in front of an audience that reveres him as a legend of the game.

In this exchange, the Giants received lefty Tyler Matzek and minor league infielder Sabin Ceballos. Luke Jackson was also part of the 2021 championship team of Atlanta.

Soler was in the first year of his three-year free-agent contract worth $42 million. This is not just any pickup for the Braves as they’ve lost NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. for the season to a torn ACL. Their star midfielder Michael Harris II is out for the long term due to a hamstring injury. Their outfield is dependent on Jarred Kelenic.

The Braves will play Soler in the outfield and he has not played a single inning in the field in 2024. After this season, Ozuna’s contract is up. However, Atlanta has a $16 million club option for 2025. So, they will take up on that to keep him in the team, given how good he’s been for the team.

With .240/.330/.419 with 12 home runs in 93 games, Soler has not been the best of the best this year. However, this move might boost his numbers. He also put up an 853 OPS with 36 home runs with the Miami Marlins last season.

So, he will be a great addition to the Atlanta Braves who are marred with injuries.
